Kirby Attwell
Mr. Attwell joined Gulf Capital Partners, Inc. as a Principal
in February 2000. He brings 40 years experience in a variety of
industries with an emphasis on financial services and distribution.
He has served as a Chief Executive Officer for 30 years for a
variety of companies including public and private both small and
large and in a variety of industries.
Mr. Attwell received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from
the University of Texas where he was elected a member of Phi Beta
Kappa. He went on to receive a Masters of Business Administration
from Harvard Business School in 1960.
Mr. Attwell was a founder, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Travis International, Inc. from 1987-1999. Travis owns diversified
specialty distribution operations with a substantial amount of
value added services and was grown through industrial development
and acquisitions. Prior to this, Mr. Attwell owned his own consulting
company (1983-1987); was President of Supply Company International,
a pipe, valve and fitting distributor (1979-1983); President of
Lincoln Financial Inc., a large Houston based financial services
company with interests in life insurance, savings and loans and
money management. For 5 years, Mr. Attwell also worked for Business
Funds, Inc., a larger Small Business Company.
Mr. Attwell's experiences not only encompassed senior management
responsibilities for building growth companies but a variety of
mergers and acquisitions, financing and joint ventures. He brings
a wide array of experiences in solving problems and building companies.
In 1997 Kirby Attwell was the recipient of Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur
of the Year Award. Mr. Attwell has also held numerous corporate
and non-profit directorships including at present: Valve Systems
and Controls, Phi Beta Kappa Alumni of Greater Houston, Advisory
Director for the Distribution and Logistics Engineering Program
at the University of Houston's College of Engineering and Texas
Children's Hospital.
