Bobby Bizzell
Dr. Bobby Bizzell is currently Dean of the College of Business
at the University of Houston Downtown and Professor of Management,
positions he has held since August 1989. Before joining the University
of Houston System he was at Stephen F. Austin State University
in Nacogdoches, Texas. While at SFA he held the rank of Professor
of Management and was Chair of the Department of Management and
Marketing, and served as director of the MBA program. He has also
been an executive with the General Electric Company.
Dr. Bizzell is the first Dean of the College of Business at the
University of Houston Downtown. The accomplishments he has made
to the University include successfully leading the college to
AACSB Accreditation, establishment of the first business advisory
board. Creation of the capital campaign team, restructuring of
the majors within the college, the development and implementation
of the Weekend College, and the institution of the college's distance
learning initiative. He also established and implemented the multiple
institution degree programs with other campuses of the University
of Houston System.
Dr. Bizzell holds a BBA, MBA and Ph.D. all from the University
of Texas @ Austin. He has also taught at The University of Carabobo
in Venezuela and The University of Texas @ Austin where he was
Assistant Dean for the MBA program.
Dr. Bizzell is a long time member of the North American Case
Research Association and held many offices in the organization
including being its President. In 1999 he was named one of only
ten faculty members ever elected to the Society of Fellows of
the Case Research Association. He is the author of many cases,
seven books, and has had his cases presented in more than 25 different
textbooks by other authors.
